The job
Hog barns need steady heat, day and night, all winter. This farm heated its barns with propane.
Now one 13 million BTU SCW boiler burns wood chips and heats the barns.

The boiler in place.

Layout drawing: boiler, fuel auger and walking floor.
How it is laid out
Chips are dumped on a walking floor. The floor moves them to an auger that carries fuel up to the boiler.
- A 13 million BTU boiler with our chain grate stoker.
- Firebox, stoker and controls built in our shop in Headingley, Manitoba.
- Controls with remote monitoring.
“Our barns stay warm all winter and our heating bill is about half what we paid for propane.”

The result
Heating cost is about 50% lower than it was on propane.
