The job
Pépinière Janelle grows a bit of everything: vegetable and herb plants, annuals, perennials, shrubs and roses, fruit trees and conifers.
Until 2026 they heated with propane. Now they burn wood chips.

The 5 million BTU system, set in the new boiler building.

What we built
- One 5 million BTU boiler with our chain grate stoker, which handles wet and mixed chips without jamming.
- Firebox, stoker and controls built in our shop in Headingley, Manitoba.
- Controls with remote monitoring, so we see how it runs from our shop.
- A fast install. The system left our shop built and wired, so the work on site went quickly.
“Our heating bill is about half what we paid for propane, and the install went fast. SCW built it, and they still keep an eye on it.”

The result
Heating cost is about 50% lower than it was on propane.
